In the days of uncharted waters, Holland was a great seafaring nation, helping bring the world a little closer together. Gin was the remedy to many things encountered by those sailing the high seas, and the precious spirit was often stored below deck next to the gunpowder. To ensure the gunpowder would still explode in the event of any gin-leakage, a 57% alcohol by volume/ 100° proof gin was distilled. This spirit became known as Navy Strength Gin. Clean and crisp and it’s a drink that never forgot where it came from. Here’s hoping you don’t either.
